Digital Signatures

Digital signatures are required as replacements for traditional handwritten signatures.
The requirement is for one party to send to another a message signed in such a way that:
 The receiver can verify the claimed identity of the sender.
 The sender cannot later repudiate the contents of the message.
 The receiver cannot possibly have concocted the message him- or herself.
