Subscriber Forecast
For a given market, an estimate of total subscriber population is needed. Ideally this should be broken down on a monthly basis so that we have an understanding of how subscriber numbers will grow over time. This is necessary as the design of the network will involve a certain amount of buildahead. If there are to be a number of different commercial offerings, then there may well be a number of different subscriber categories, in which case forecasts are needed for each type of category. For example, a network operator may choose to offer some combination of services involving voice-only, voice and data, or data-only. Moreover, the data services may be further broken down depending on commercial offerings and subscriber devices. For example, one data offering might be limited to Web browsing, another might include Web browsing, e-mail service provided by the network operator, plus some other service such as Web space. Yet another data service might be aimed at telematic devices. Forecasts are needed for each type of user category.
