Traffic Calculation and Network Dimensioning for GPRS

Jan 25,2011 by alperen

Dimensioning a GPRS network involves the dimensioning of a number of
network elements (such as SGSNs and GGSNs) and a number of network interfaces (air interface, Gb, and Gn). Of each of the resources (nodes and
interfaces) available in a GPRS network, the most limited is the air interface.
Moreover, the air interface resources must be shared with GSM. One
does not want to inhibit GSM voice traffic for the sake of GPRS data traffic
or vice versa, so some planning is required.
