HSRP accost process

Preemption

Preemption is the action whereby the router with the accomplished configured antecedence becomes the

active router. In the case of HSRP, the accomplished antecedence is the accomplished cardinal in the ambit 0–255

(one octet).

The aftereffect is that if an alive router fails and afresh comes aback online, it is able to booty over

being the alive router already again. Without the preemption process, the standby router that had

become alive would abide as the alive router until a new acclamation action was started.
