Sparse mode protocols use shared tree distribution as their forwarding methods. This is done to
create a more efficient method of multicast distribution. Two sparse mode protocols are discussed
in this section:
 Core-based trees (CBT)
 Protocol Independent Multicast sparse mode (PIM SM)
