The Information Field

The
Information field
is also called the
Data field
. This field contains the data of the packet that
has been encapsulated in PPP. The Information field’s length is determined by the amount of
user data offered, which can range from 0 to 1,500 octets. The maximum receive unit (MRU)
establishes this upper limitation.
