Configuring IP on a Gigabit Interface
SW1#config terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

SW1(config)#interface gigabitethernet 1/1

SW1(config-if)#ip address 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

SW1(config-if)#no shutdown

SW1(config-if)#end

SW1#

Now that the interface is configured with an IP address, a quick check of the interface can be accomplished with the show interface gigabitethernet 1/1 command, as demonstrated in Example 5-19.
