Directional Broadcasting

One way to focus the transmissions of your wireless network so that you
increase the range of your WLAN for employees but not for hackers is to
implement directional antenna areas that enhance the coverage of your
WLAN between corporate sites without sending your signal into public
areas where they can compromise your system.
The antenna on one building within your corporate facilities is connected
to its wired LAN, while the antenna of the adjacent building is
connected to its wired LAN. You can point these two signal arrays at
each other so that you maintain control of the radio frequency spectrum
transmissions and focus your WLAN in areas where you need it, without
sending your signal to areas you don’t want to. In this way, you can
maintain security while maintaining the functionality of your wireless
LAN over moderate distances. You essentially save money without having
to deploy more of your wired infrastructure.
