Evolving Standards

The evolution of WLAN standards has focused more on increasing the

speed of transmission. As growth continues, security will constantly

hamper the adoption of WLANs for fear of hackers gaining access. Wireless

networks, by definition, are open and subject to attack. It is imperative

to add stronger levels of encryption, managed together with authentication,

to ensure that data transmissions are secure. When a hacker

attempts to break into your wireless network, he or she looks for the

path of least resistance. As wireless standards evolve to encompass

greater speed, make certain that you add as many security measures as

possible to make the job of hacking your wireless network that much

harder.
