Roaming in 802.11

The 802.11 wireless standard is not as defined in
the 802.11 standard, but it does specify the basic message formats necessary
to support roaming. Most network vendors interoperate so that
wireless equipment today is not tied to any one vendor. One of the
devices used to facilitate roaming is the inter-access point protocol
(IAPP), which enhances your multivendor interoperability to the roaming
capabilities of 802.11 such that roaming is possible for at least one
or two ESSs.
